Ukraine is an Eastern European country. It is Europe's second-largest country, behind Russia, with which it shares borders to the east and north. Ukraine is bordered on the north by Belarus, on the west by Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary, on the south by Romania and Moldova, and has Azov and Black sea. Kyiv is Ukraine's capital and largest city.

It has a rich culture, colourful history, a thriving artistic vein, incredible architectural wonders, and excellent and inexpensive food. In general, Ukraine is a cheap country to visit, which is perhaps the most compelling incentive to do so.

Ukraine is a safe place to visit in general. The war-torn southeast of the country, far from the capital, is home to troubled areas touched by Russia's aggression. Demonstrations may occasionally occur in the country's major cities, and international visitors are urged to avoid these events.
