On this occasion, I recommend Mexico to start your life together as spouses. But why a honeymoon in Mexico? Because the country has many beautiful places, even some not very well known. Although it is a difficult task, if I had to choose the 10 best honeymoon destinations in Mexico according to my experience, these would be the following. Where to honeymoon in Mexico?

1. Riviera Maya

This destination offers us beautiful beaches with white sand and crystal waters; it has many ecotourism or adventure activities very close by. It also has good options for those who plan to spend most of their time in their hotel since the area has large Mexico honeymoon resorts that practically seem like mini-cities, and you can live the romance without going anywhere. Of course, another Mexico honeymoon ideas for couples who want to have an ecological or different type of honeymoon, a good option is the town of Tulum, where you can reserve a rustic cabin that even has no electricity.

2. Huatulco

In case you want to know about more Mexico honeymoon places, Huatulco is another good option. This is a small and romantic place on the Oaxaca coasts, with beautiful bays and very delicious food, ideal for couples who are looking for something not so commercial and want to be in contact with nature. There are not many Mexico honeymoon resorts with all-inclusive plans (dinner or lunch), but their prices are affordable, and you can eat well with little money.

3. Cancun

is one of the best places to honeymoon in Mexico because, without a doubt, it has one of the best beaches in the country with turquoise color sea and white sand - a landscape to end up falling in love with. Despite having a reputation for being expensive, you can find cheap honeymoon packages in simple but quality hotels, the advantage of Cancun is that you can do many activities as a couple if you want to have fun it also has an intense nightlife and very good restaurants to celebrate this special occasion. Cancun is a place that should be on your map of top Mexico honeymoon destinations.

4. San Miguel de Allende

If you want more Mexico honeymoon destinations but with a colonial touch, San Miguel de Allende is one of the favorite ones for most couples, a city with a bohemian and romantic atmosphere. In the same way, it has many interesting activities to do, and the prices are not very high.

5. Puerto Vallarta (Vallarta Port)

puerto vallarta

This is one of the best Mexico honeymoon locations with one of the most famous beaches in the country; the advantage is that it has options for all budgets and you can find many things in the traditional Mexican towns styles combined with high-level resorts, where you can enjoy your stays such as Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, and more.

6. Los Cabos

los cabos

Los Cabos is a very exclusive destination honeymoon in Mexico with first-rate hotels, although your honeymoon does not necessarily have to be very expensive. If you plan ahead, hotels frequently launch very attractive promotions. Ideal for sharing a game of golf, visit San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, and if you are lucky, in case you coincide in season, this is one of the best Mexico honeymoon places where you will be able to see the whales.

7. Isla Holbox

isla holbox

This is a small island in the north of Quintana Roo where people almost don’t come. If what you want is to get away from the city and "isolate" yourself on your honeymoon, this is the best honeymoon destinations in Mexico. It is a great option since it is a very small and simple island. The roads are not paved, there are no tall buildings, there are no cars (the most common means of transport is the bicycle, and the most powerful the golf cart!). Holbox has a green soul, and its eco-friendly vision conquers all visitors. Without a doubt, Holbox is a romantic and special place if you are wondering where to honeymoon in Mexico.

How to get to Holbox?

Holbox is located in front of the Yucatan Peninsula coast and belongs to the Yum Balam Biosphere Reserve. The island is located 145 kilometers from Cancun, which is part of this list as well. The first step is that you will have to move from the point where you are (for example, Cancun or Playa del Carmen) to a small town called Chiquila. This place is the base place to get to Holbox. So, the first thing you have to do is get to Chiquila. To get to this unique town, there are few options that are viable: By bus from Cancun touristict busses You will have to go to the Cancun bus station, which is located in the center of the city. From here, the buses of the ADO brand that arrive at Chiquila depart, but it is important that you consider the following: There are only two types of buses for Chiquila, the direct ones and the ones that make stops. The direct one only leaves at 9 in the morning from the station and, on average, takes 2 and half hours to Chiquila. The cost is about 244 Mexican pesos. The second (the one that stops in various intermediate towns) has 3 schedules and takes an average of 3 hours 20 minutes to Chiquila. The cost is about 175 Mexican pesos. I definitely recommend traveling on the direct bus since you will save a lot of time and fatigue despite being a bit more expensive. You can buy your tickets in advance to secure your seat. By bus from Playa del Carmen If you are in Playa del Carmen, your option is the following: An ADO brand bus leaves every day at 09:25 a.m. from the tourist terminal located on Avenida 5 and Benito Juarez. The cost starts from 260 Mexican pesos. I recommend you buy your ticket in advance to ensure your place. Once you arrive in Chiquila (either by car or bus), you have two options to get to Holbox: • Boat: In Holbox, there are many fishermen who also offer the service of taking you to the island in their boats. They will charge you the same as the ferry. • Ferry: There are two ferry companies. Both have exactly the same service, and they will charge you 150 pesos for a single trip. Both companies leave and arrive at the same port. Note: Keep in mind that the price varies and depends on the season.

8. San Cristobal de Las Casas

san cristobal de las casas

There are many ecotourism activities in Chiapas, and from this city, you can visit most of them, although the hotels are usually simple, it is a very picturesque place, and from there you can get to know the Sumidero Canyon, Agua Azul Waterfalls, Palenque and many more places that are very close by.

9. Playa del Carmen

playa del carmen

This is a small city near Cancun that newlyweds highly choose due to its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful beaches. The most famous area is 5th avenue, where you will surely not get tired of walking with your partner since there are a lot of bars, restaurants, and shops to pamper yourself to the fullest. This place receives many European who are looking for different Mexico honeymoon destinations. Despite being relatively small, it offers many nightlife options, from bars to very good nightclubs.

Nothing like walking through the Historic Center of the City of Puebla, which has been declared as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO; will surely leave you many and very good memories. Many couples have the idea that the best Mexico honeymoon locations do not exist. But the truth is that they only need to ask themselves what type of trip they want to make in order to choose the most suitable destination and live an unforgettable experience.
